Ask me questions about me! ANYTHING, REALLY :)) http://www.formspring.me/liyasmusicbox

It’s crazy to think that it’s been almost a year and a half since we shared the stage with these guys in Korea. I remember arriving at our dorm, painstakingly learning our pieces for two days of performance in the midst of the winter cold. And then, just a door from where we were rehearsing were these guys. I swear, I hung for a moment and realized how entirely blessed I was to have experienced so many cultures in one stage. But on top of all the formalities of performing, it was nice to meet people from other cultures who had that “universal language” somewhat mastered- because for two days, we survived on just that- so many countries with not a single common language but music.

BBC Proms. I’m so glad Khusugtun was featured. and the intro of the whole Human Planet project? SPOT ON.

Here’s that other side of me. As much as I love to sing, the past four years have been filled with awesome music that’s a rare encounter nowadays. I love Traditional Asian Music and I really hope something can be done to preserve it.

This is a video of a fun (albeit, very hot) rehearsal for a performance next week. My friend and I will be playing the koto, a Japanese zither with 13 strings. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did filming it!

Sa May Likha ng Kalawakan

The poem which was the basis of my whole grad recital. :)
——

Nandiyan ang Liwanag
Walang Kamatayang nagniningning
Bago pumikit ay humiling sa iyo;
Mayroon o wala mang nagtatakip na ulap;
